A&E was incredibly responsive and helpful. They came out the same day we requested the project to evaluate and provide a quote. The work was completed quickly and met our needs exactly. We truly appreciate their promptness and professionalism every step of the way.

After a storm damaged part of our roof and siding, we contacted a few companies—A&E Pro Painting & Construction stood out right away. They provided a detailed estimate, worked directly with our insurance company, and handled everything smoothly. The crew was respectful and hardworking. We’ll definitely call them again.

Why Routine Care Pays Off

Decks are an exposed surface that takes the brunt of weather year round, so regular care pays off over the long run:

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know when my deck needs refinishing or rebuilding?

Refinishing signs include faded or peeling stain, mildew or dark spots on the boards, splintering surface wood, and loose or wobbly railings. Rebuild signs are softer: soft or rotted joists underneath, sagging or uneven sections, posts that move when pushed, and boards that flex underfoot. If the framing under the deck is failing, refinishing alone will not fix it.

What does building a new deck involve?

We start with measurements, layout discussion, and a free written quote covering material and structural design. After permit approval, we dig and pour footings, frame the substructure, lay the decking material, install railings and stairs, and finish with sealing or staining if cedar. Composite material does not need a finish coat. Larger backyard projects can also pull in painting, roofing, siding, remodeling, window installation, flooring, drywall, or fencing depending on scope.

What affects the cost of a new deck?

The biggest cost drivers are square footage, the material chosen (pressure-treated wood, cedar, or composite), height above ground (ground-level vs second story), the design (railings, stairs, built-in benches), the soil and grading for footings, and permit and inspection requirements. Get a free quote here for a written breakdown.

How long does a composite deck last compared to cedar?

A well-built composite deck typically lasts 25 to 30 years with little maintenance beyond occasional washing. A cedar deck looks beautiful but needs restaining every two to four years and typically lasts 15 to 20 years before board replacement starts. Composite costs more upfront but saves on long-term care.

How long does it take to build a new deck?

A standard ground-level deck takes one to two weeks once permits and materials are in. Larger or elevated decks with railings, stairs, and complex designs run two to four weeks. Permit approval adds a few weeks on the front end, so we factor that timing into every project schedule from the start.
